Dry Bank Holiday

High pressure brings a dry Bank Holiday.
Temperatures will not be particularly high and there will
be a nagging easterly breeze as the high draws in air from the
North Sea.

Another Dry Funday
Many of the older villagers are scarred with the memory of wet
Village Fundays. Sadly myfull records only go back to 2006 but I
shall dig out the rain for earlier (wetter) ones in due course.
This year sees six years since we had significant rain on a
Late May Bank Holiday. (2019 had some light rain)

Summer is Coming
Bugle, on the right heralds warm days of summer as does tiny Speedwell
on the left. Both grow down at ankle height but a worth a look.

For the 2023l 'High Rain Rate' ignore the 101mm/hr on the 3-Day History page; technical glitch. The correct figure is above, 63.6mm/hr

Staplefield Anorak is a privately-run, not-for-profit website.
Occasional attempts are made to forecast the weather for certain local events. It should be noted that my only qualification for this is a slightly unhealthy interest in the weather, and in rain in particular.

Current weather is reported every 5 minutes from an automatic Davis Weatherstation in my garden in Staplefield. It is not sited very scientifically and is sheltered from the west & northwest, which leads to wind reports which may not represent those experienced elsewhere in the village. The site is approximately 300ft (91m) above sea level.

Other readings should be fairly accurate, although they should not be relied on for anything more than general interest. UV readings are definitely not accurate and should be ignored.

Other pages on the website depict recent weather graphically and another, the level of water in our well (which may give some indication of groundwater levels). There is a photographs page which is updated every few days. I either post pictures of the village or of wildlife and nature around the village. I am happy to post any information that may be of local interest.

I always welcome feedback, so please use the contact me link if you would like anything added, or removed, from the site, or to send in anyphotograph that you think suitable for publication. I also welcome general comments, praise, quotes and weather-related jokes, funny or not.
