High: 18.2 c (2019)

- ALL TIME FEB RECORDS -

(2012) Low: -8.1c

Remaining fine through the weekend.

High pressure to the south keeps all the Atlantic weather
well away from Sussex. Expect a fine start to February.
It's going to feel spring-like.

2 Feb 2023

January turned out drier than average and the cumulative rainfall
graph shows this year's purple line heading off midway between
the lines of the driest and wettest years
(both of which change direction in April!)

January
Warmer and drier than average. Surprisingly.
A wet start to Jan made the month feel very wet, but this was followed
by a dry second half.
A cold spell, with eight sharp frosts on the trot, made the month seem cold.

Staplefield Anorak is a privately-run, not-for-profit website.
Occasional attempts are made to forecast the weather for certain local events. It should be noted that my only qualification for this is a slightly unhealthy interest in the weather, and in rain in particular.

Current weather is reported every 5 minutes from an automatic Davis Weatherstation in my garden in Staplefield. It is not sited very scientifically and is sheltered from the west & northwest, which leads to wind reports which may not represent those experienced elsewhere in the village. The site is approximately 300ft (91m) above sea level.

Other readings should be fairly accurate, although they should not be relied on for anything more than general interest. UV readings are definitely not accurate and should be ignored.

Other pages on the website depict recent weather graphically and another, the level of water in our well (which may give some indication of groundwater levels). There is a photographs page which is updated every few days. I either post pictures of the village or of wildlife and nature around the village. I am happy to post any information that may be of local interest.

I always welcome feedback, so please use the contact me link if you would like anything added, or removed, from the site, or to send in anyphotograph that you think suitable for publication. I also welcome general comments, praise, quotes and weather-related jokes, funny or not.
